Donald Trump Jr. is in the center of the last revelations in the scandal of Russia - such as it was confirmed by the emails that it tweeté itself, it accepted a meeting in June 2016 knowing very well, it was the result of an attempt of the Russian government discrediting Hillary Clinton. But the last key of the history does not relate to only Trump Jr. It goes in the middle of the campaign of Donald Trump - and his presidency.
This meeting with the lawyer affiliated to the Kremlin, Natalia Veselnitskaya, on June 9th, 2016, also understood the manager of countryside de facto of Trump, Paul Manafort, and a narrow advisor of a long time of the candidate (and future principal advisor of the president) Jared Kushner.
Trump Jr. knew that Veselnitskaya was a “lawyer of the Russian government” which wanted to meet with regard to “certain official documents and of the information which would accuse Hillary” suggested by the Russian “Crown attorney”. And it was France meant lugubrious with the possibility: “If it is what you say, I like it especially later in summer”, he wrote.
But do not mistake - it was not only one meeting with the son of the president. The principal officials of the countryside started a meeting which was created to collect detrimental information on an adversary of a foreign entity. Although we do not know exactly what Manafort and Kushner knew, they do not seem to deal or worry about what was behind the meeting - or posed too many questions.
Manafort was the key to lead Trump to the victory in 2016; Kushner guided its presidency with each stage of the process. This history is in connection with them - and, by extension, the circle of people who advise the most powerful man in the world - as much as Donald Trump Jr.
Nobody was willing to perhaps say “that we should avoid any foreign effort to discredit our adversary”
At the time of the meeting, at at the beginning of June 2016, Paul Manafort was a relatively new hiring in the Trump countryside, trained with professionalised the operation (which was directed by faithful Trump like Corey Lewandowski rather than of the professionals of the career). He had not yet officially replaced Lewandowski as an official of the countryside, but its power was upwards. Combined with Kushner (which had been closely implied in the countryside since the jump) and Trump Jr. (which, like his/her brothers and sisters Eric and Ivanka, often tried to exert an influence on the direction of the countryside), the Trump countryside sent three very heavy strikers This meeting.
Either they did it so deliberately - because they thought that it was a particularly important opportunity to have an advantage on Clinton - or they did it in an imprudent way, not really attentive which was behind the supposed gift.
It could literally seem incredible to suppose that they were not concerned with what occurred - that they took the meeting not because the Kremlin was implied, but simply because one promised ground to them on Clinton. But it is really plausible.
Trump Jr. is not formally implied in the administration. But its attitude - If that could help you and wound your enemy, why wouldn't you do it? - is in the middle of the family ideology Trump. And the family ideology of Trump (represented in particular by Kushner) is a powerful force within this White House, just like within the framework of the presidential campaign.
Kushn, in particular, r showed on several occasions a will to use all the tools at its disposal to get its preferred result - to push to discredit the special prosecutor Robert Mueller to press CNN to draw from the commentators anti Trump after the elections. The administration also (according to the case) launched the idea to use fusion in the course of Time Warner with AT&T like lever to more easily obtain CNN outward journey on the president.
If you worry about freedom of the press or the legal provision, these actions cross brilliant ethical lines. If you are not concerned with them - or you look after some less than you make it in connection with gaining - it does not have there luminous lines which are appropriate to you to obtain what you want.
What the revelations of the meeting of Veselnitskaya tell us, more than all, it is that certain people who the most succeeded in making pass Donald Trump to the White House (at least a person which accompanies it) did not see the rules respecting. Even if they did not know it, they failed, in an obvious way, to worry.
