Having been more politically divided than ever this year, there is one topic that we can all agree on. Dogs. Those sweet, friendly balls of fur are a comfort to many. Some of this comfort is being spread by Karin Bruillard from the Washington Post.
The movement involves agents with the funniest names; Grey Muzzle, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, Bobs House for Dogs etc. Coffee Table Books and Instagram have played a huge role in the movement. With this in mind, seven-year-old dogs are getting owners.
They take care of the dogs just as senior citizens get i.e. by footing medical and dental bills. In the past year, Karen reports that Grey Muzzle has spent at least $225,000 as grants in 38 senior dog programs in the whole country.
Although it is said that old dogs cannot learn new tricks, an Australian study from the past year carried out on 95 Border Collies proved the opposite. Compared to their young counterparts, older dogs excelled at reasoning tests. Their old age was a plus on the memory part.
