Two adorable new arrivals go to the house among the animals of the zoo of Twycross.
The owners of the zoo announced the arrival of their last additions within the boundary of snows leopard two females, the third pair for the mom Irma and the Suou father.
Born with the beginning from April, the small ones and their mother Irma spent their first months together in a show relaxed to enable them to settle in the world at their own rhythm. Now, as they age, the two little girls will start to venture farther from the security of the den.
Like their older brothers and sisters, a boy and a girl born in 2011 and two boys born in 2013, these two females belong to the international program of breeding which helps the zoos to maintain a population managed genetically healthy, which is used as a safety net for the species in nature.
With their mother coming from Swedish Kolmarden Wildlife Park and their father of the zoological gardens from Tama to Tokyo, their small is particularly invaluable in terms of genetic composition.
Miguel Bueno, conservative of the alive collections to the zoo, declared: “We are charmed third litter of small snows leopard to be born here with the zoo from Twycross.
“The two girls grow at incredible intervals and their mother, Irma, do a fantastic job while occupying themselves. It has been incredible for their first day and I am sure that these little girls will become strong and healthy women who will help our efforts In the maintenance of a durable population of snows leopards in the zoologists of the whole world”.
Snow Leopards, classified by the International Union for the nature conservation (UICN) like “in the process of disappearance”, are often killed by the farmers because they nourish cattle and that the large cats are also driven out for their fur.
One suspects that the species decreased by at least 20% during 16 last years because of the loss of habitat and the prey, as well as poaching and persecution. It is estimated that there are nothing any more but 4,000 to 6,500 snow-covered leopards in their natural range through the vast high mountains of Central Asia.
The guards of Twycross Zoo hope that the two young people become the next generation of reproductive females for other zoos to help with the conservation of these imperceptible species.
