Tennis: Federer wins his 8th Wimbledon

Roger Federer won the 19th Grand Slam tournament of his career Sunday, easily dominating Croat Mariner Cilic in the final in London (6-3, 6-1, 6-4).

The Swiss Roger Federer did not agitate to lose against Marin Cilic an eighth record title at Wimbledon, his 19th Grand Slam in 1h41.

Winner of the Australian Open in January, the former N.1 World (N.5 currently) wins his second major trophy this season, the first in London since 2012.

With this success, the Grand Slam Trophy record holder surpassed one of its young models, American Pete Sampras and Briton William Renshaw, champion of the late 19th century with whom he shared the record titles in London.

Federer never trembled to dominate his Croatian opponent. The world number six was not in full possession of his means, as evidenced by the intervention of a doctor to treat his left foot, visibly painful.

In the middle of the second series, the Croat even collapsed on his chair in tears. For his second Grand Slam final, he made a front but never felt like being able to scramble the cards and deprive Federer of the first title in London for 5 years.
